Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@drarmas.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Mental health clinicians and coaches must confidently prioritize nutrition in their scope of practice, recognizing its undeniable impact on mental health. Referring clients to qualified healthcare professionals for dietary advice and collaborating with registered dietitians can demonstrate their professional expertise and lead to better treatment outcomes. By incorporating nutrition into their practice, therapists can confidently provide comprehensive care and address the needs of their clients holistically.

Yes, therapists can offer guidance, but it’s a bit different from the kind of advice you might get from a friend or family member. Rather than telling you exactly what to do, therapists help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and choices so you can make decisions that truly align with your values and goals.

That said, therapy doesn’t always mean sitting in silence or only asking questions. Depending on your needs and the therapist’s style, you might experience a more direct approach — especially when clarity, structure, or safety is needed. Many clients actually find this supportive and grounding, especially when they’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

Ultimately, therapy is a collaborative space — and whether the guidance is gentle or more straightforward, the goal is always to support your growth, confidence, and clarity.

Integrative therapy is a type of psychotherapy that combines various therapeutic approaches to provide a holistic and customized treatment. It aims to address the underlying causes of mental health issues by considering the unique needs, goals, and circumstances of each individual. The goal of integrative therapy is to promote personal growth and healing by providing a tailored approach to treatment.

Our interns are pre-licensed professionals who are in the process of completing the requirements for full licensure. They work under the supervision of a licensed clinician, which allows them to provide care both ethically and legally. This supervision ensures that all clients receive high-quality, responsible support. Working with an intern can be a meaningful and affordable way to access therapy, and we’re proud to support their growth as future licensed therapists.

Thank you for reaching out — we're glad you're here. At this time, we are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Oxford, and United Healthcare. We're also in the process of becoming credentialed with Cigna and IEHP, and we’ll share updates as soon as those approvals are finalized.

Please note that our interns are currently only able to accept Medi-Cal and Cigna. If you're interested in working with Matt, sessions would need to be self-pay for now. We truly appreciate your understanding, and we're happy to answer any questions or help you find the best path forward.

Individual therapy sessions (45-53 minutes) are available at a rate of $175 with Dr. Vanessa Armas and $125 with Matt Flores.

Currently, Matt Flores only provides couples counseling at a rate of $150 per session.

We understand the importance of affordable care and while we are not currently able to offer a sliding scale, we are happy to help you explore your options. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

We completely understand that life happens and schedules can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. This helps us offer that time to someone else who may be waiting. Without that notice, a cancellation fee may apply. Thank you so much for your understanding — we truly appreciate it.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your services may cost.
